Workspace Onboarding
When setting up your organization on Volidator, you will proceed through a simple 4-step onboarding wizard. This guide highlights the setup steps, with a focus on selecting and configuring your log retention policy.
Onboarding Steps
Section titled “Onboarding Steps”1. Workspace Configuration
Section titled “1. Workspace Configuration”You will begin by configuring your workspace details, including:
- Representative Name: The full name of the administrator.
- Organisation Name: The billing and tenancy name of your business.
- Website URL: Your company’s primary web domain.
- Timezone: The default timezone used for displaying timestamps in dashboard charts and activity lists.
2. Passkey Security
Section titled “2. Passkey Security”Volidator enforces biometric passkey authentication (FaceID, TouchID, Windows Hello, or hardware security keys) to guarantee highly secure, passwordless access to your encrypted audit logs.
3. Create Project & Log Retention Policy
Section titled “3. Create Project & Log Retention Policy”When provisioning your initial project environment, you must choose a log retention window. This defines how long Volidator will store your encrypted logs on our edge servers before they are permanently and irreversibly purged:
- 7 Days (Starter Plan): Designed for testing or short-term event tracking.
- 30 Days (1 Month): Suitable for standard operating logs.
- 180 Days (6 Months): Recommended for medium-sized organizations.
- 365 Days (1 Year - Default): Ideal for general SOC2/compliance auditing requirements.
- Keep Forever (Unlimited): Retains logs indefinitely (requires upgrading to our Enterprise plan).
[!NOTE]
You can update this policy at any time from your Project Settings inside the dashboard. Changes will apply to existing logs next time our daily cleanup cron job executes.
4. Backup Credentials
Section titled “4. Backup Credentials”Once created, your project’s data keys (including the client-side AES decryption key) will be generated. You will be prompted to download a volidator.env configuration file containing these credentials. Ensure you save this file in a secure vault; Volidator does not store your decryption keys on the server and cannot recover lost keys.
